CMS announces Gayk Safaryan’s appointment as a partner of its practice in tax law in Russia


CMS, one of the leading international law firms in Russia, announces the appointment of Gayk Safaryan as a partner of the tax practice of CMS, Russia. Gayk’s total work experience in CMS is 10 years. Since 2009 he is has been a senior associate of CMS’ tax department in Russia.

Gayk’s areas of professional practice include various matters of tax law in Russia and Russian customs regulation. He specialises in:

  • international tax planning,
  • international trade and currency exchange regulation,
  • as well as customs and transport law.

Gayk has a solid experience in tax analysis in Russia and advice on tax structuring of large foreign companies’ operations in the Russian market.

He also advises corporate clients on Russian customs law, including import and export controls, obtaining classification decisions, customs valuation, rules for determining the origin of goods and customs control.

Gayk Safaryan has a diploma in economics from the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and a diploma in law from the Moscow State Law Academy named after O.Ye. Kutafin. Gayk also holds a Master of Laws degree in Public Law from the University of Aix-Marseille III and a Master of International Management degree from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris.

Gayk is fluent in Russian, French, English and Armenian.
