Georgy Daneliya is a counsel in the Commercial practice and the Head of Japanese Desk. 

His area of expertise includes international equipment supply contracts, joint ventures and development projects in oil & gas, infrastructure and transport sectors, as well as general real estate, corporate and litigation matters in Russia. 

Georgy has 20 years’ experience in complex support of new projects, including establishment of production subsidiaries, large assets acquisition, formalising relationships with distributors and dealers. He leads all stages of projects’ implementation – from structuring till completion, including consulting on trade, labour, foreign currency, banking and other regulatory aspects in Russia.

Before joining the firm in 2017, Georgy had worked with several other international law firms in Russia and Japan, as well as an in-house counsel in a major Russian development company.

  • Major Japanese heavy machinery manufacturer – advising on the supply of production equipment to Russian customers, its subsequent installation, start-up and servicing.
  • Well-known Japanese software and video games developer – advising on the legal regulation of e-currency, personal data protection and other matters in Russia and major European jurisdictions.
  • One of largest international developer of industrial software – preparation and legal support of execution of license and technical support agreements with Russian clients.
  • Major Japanese trading house – coordination of the legal support for a natural gas E&P project in Turkmenistan.
  • Russian subsidiary of a major Japanese heavy machinery supplier – advising on the structuring of warranty and post-warranty servicing and delivery of spare parts to its customers in Russia.
  • Leading Japanese development company – advising on legal aspects of the acquisition of a major Russian wood-cutting and processing company; due diligence of the company and drafting sale and purchase agreements.
  • Large Japanese construction company – preparing documentation and procurement filings with the Commission on the Control of Foreign Investments of the Government of Russia for obtaining an approval for the acquisition of Russian strategic companies, as well as antitrust clearance of the acquisition with the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
  • Russian medical equipment manufacturer – advising on various issues related to the acquisition of technology and IP rights from a major Japanese R&D institute; drafting and negotiating technology development (cooperation) agreement and term-sheets for contemplated IP license agreements.
  • Large Korean coal extracting company – advising on the legal aspects of reconstruction and expansion of a seaport, and the construction of industrial facilities in Russia.
  • Major Japanese oil & gas company – advising on its acquisition of a minority stake in a Russian oil & gas company, including due diligence of the group.
