Russian court: US-based Citibank N.A. is solely liable for freezing funds due to sanctions

Sovcombank’s claim concerned Citibank N.A.’s failure to perform transactions under the ISDA Master Agreement in connection with US sanctions. The lower courts upheld the claim against both defendants, even though СB Citibank had no contractual relationship with Sovcombank and was not involved in the execution of the transactions.
